As I stated in my Blog Exploring our Little part of our World that I left out pictures that had sticks in them because that was a whole other Blog. Well this is that Blog.
Back in Jan of 2012 I wrote a Blog titled Sticks because I seen a fellow Blogger Emily Our Waldo Bungie write about her foster dog Ginger Rogers Protector from Sticks. Sense then I have noticed Midnight prefers a stick over any toy there is. Midnight is still protector from sticks.
When Midnight first came to live with me she was put on a 40 ft lead as I didn’t know her well enough yet to let her go un leashed. She did start her no lead training but even on the lead she managed to find sticks.
After that she lost that one and decided to Explore with BabyGirl instead.
So while BabyGirl has had a career in Posing with Yogurt Cups and Midnight did try posing with Yogart Cups and they were to small for her to pose with so she tried this :
But it didn’t really work out so I guess she found her new career in Posing with sticks !
Last year I did a Blog on Memorial Day of those in my family who served our country. I had only put who I knew served. Sense then I have been researching my family history and making a family tree. On this Memorial Day I get to include more of family who served due to this research.
While Researching I found this site New York State Military Museum and Veterans Research Center and Discovered My 2nd Great Grandfather John Mallette ( who was born in Canada French) served in the Civil war. On this site I found a Letter that describes the Battle in which he was Killed in Action. The letter can be found here. The title on the letter is :
Army Correspondence.
LETTER FROM THE 98TH REGIMENT.
CAMP 98TH REGIMENT, N. Y. V.,
BERMUDA HUNDREDS, May 17, 1864.
My thoughts will be with him on this Day.
His brother Peter Mallette( also born Canada ,French) also served in the Civil War. He was wounded and mustered out. Sense this information is new to me I have yet to compile all the information. He served and I am honored to mention him for this Memorial Day.
I must mention that I was surprised to find that my Family History goes back to Canada French. I am sure as I continue to research I will find many family members who served in our Military.
Now John Mallettes Grandson my Grandfather Frank Mallette served in WWI United States Army 303 Wagon Co.
Frank Mallette’s son Paul Mallette my uncle served in WWII United States Army 420 ARMDFLD ARTY BN
Picture was in a house fire and has some water damage and had to be trimmed but I am so glad that it could be saved.
Now Frank Mallette Great Grandson David Brackett Jr Served in Iraq War United States Navy on the USS Taylor. He was in Commucations . He served from November 2004 – May 2009.
My son and I were living in Philadelphia at the time Davids ship came to port and it had been so long sense we had seen him. We were happy to get to spend some time with him. We also got to tour his ship.
My thoughts will be with all my Family who served in the Military. I know it wasn’t easy for them and I know they knew it was necessary to serve. Thank you all who served our country and keep us safe.
We went on the hike down the creek that ended with waterfalls. I gave the ending away on my Wordless Wednesday. I just had to post the pick of BabyGirl and Midnight looking at them when we first arrived there at the falls.
The hike there was just awesome and we all had a great time. It was about 1 1/2 miles up the creek to the falls. We rested on a ledge by the falls and had our lunch and while everyone else was in the heat we had Mother Natures air conditioning. We started out about 11 am and ended at 4:30 pm for the entire hike and spending time at the falls. I discovered Midnight could swim as some parts of the creek were deep enough for swimming and of coarse catching little fish and chasing floating sticks. (next blog will be about the sticks. I didn’t post some pictures involving sticks because that is a whole other blog to write )
Every once in awhile I post something about animals that is important to me. This is one of those times. There is a Petition going around to give New York City a little shove towards doing the right Thing.
I know it is such a shame that you have to give our elected officials and our government departments a shove to do the right thing. This is what we must do so I am trying to help do that.
It is so important to me as I have one of those dogs from NYC as part of my Family. Here she is on her intake photo. She looks so frighten and do you blame her for being so scared? Midnight was going to be killed because she had kennel cough. It is very treatable and more important it is preventable.
This is a photo (below) a volunteer took. The volunteer took the time to have her comfortable to take her picture. The VOLUNTEERS are AMAZING at the NYCACC. Thank you guy’s so much for all the care you give to the NYCACC animals. This is the picture I saw on my Facebook in the middle of the night on a To Be Destroyed List on Urgent Part 2 Death Row Dogs. A Facebook site that post dogs that are not seen by the public. I had this feeling that I needed to give her a home and I am so glad I did. She is so very sweet and smart. I contacted a Rescue in NYC Social Tees Animal Rescue and they made it happen for Midnight to become part of my Family. I live in Western NY and Midnight traveled across NY state to find her forever home.
There are so many people out there that are trying to save these animals and yet the NYCACC is suppose to be doing what so many of these caring people do. That is why it is so important to sign thePetition . To make NYCACC and the NYC Department of health accountable for not doing their job and not doing it right. So please sign the Petition and make NYCACC know they need to do their job and do it right. NYC is suppose to be a leader and yet they are so un-evolved when it comes to our pets.
This is Midnight sense she has been with me. All NYCACC wanted to do with her is kill her.
Well it starts out like this. ( Note some of my pictures are a little edited because I am trying to learn how to edit , borders etc.. I realize that I am not good at it yet and have mistakes. But The pics of the dogs were good so I used them anyway.)
It progresses to kissing
It then turns to kissing and nibbling
Which then goes one step further to standing ,kissing, and nibbling
Then it turns into all out play
Then you add a piece of your old toy to the mix ( Notice how lazy Midnight finally stands up )
Then all settles down until the next round . That is what you do on a Rainy Day
Yesterday BabyGirl turned 8 years old. We have not had her little party yet as between getting windows installed and the rainy weather it had to be put off. She did have her Special Birthday Dinner. She ok with waiting on cake and milk. ( She knows her cake is on the counter!) The picture is of her latest adventure to a creek by our house. We have another creek adventure planed and this time the new creek will end with a waterfall!
We are looking forward to adventures this Spring and Summer and excited about exploring our surroundings. On that Note I just have to say Happy Birthday BabyGirl!
