My First Protest

Most  protests that go on are usually in a big city USA and sense I live in what is call way out there in the country I never get to participate in the protests that go on about my animal friends domestic or wild . Anyone that has ever took a peek into this blog knows I love my fur friends. I always take to the internet to fight the many battles for animals. Not today, today I participated in a protest in Holly , NY that is a couple counties over from me. The Protest against what is called the Squirrel Slam. The Holly Fire Dept has a contest every year to raise funds by the killing of innocent squirrels. Friends of Animals.org offered the Holly Fire Dept  money not to go on with the contest and it was more money than they would have made on the contest and they turned it down That in it self is bad enough but to add to it the contest let 12 years old and up participate in this contest/fundraiser of killing of small animals. I see this as a problem especially with the children being taught it is ok to kill a sentient being. It desensitizes the children .   Then they grow up and society has to deal with them.  Then they reward them with a prize for killing . No good can come out of this or this Or this Those squirrels are the reason I chose to protest as they have every right to live as we  do. I enjoy wildlife and I don’t want it to be killed off because of a contest/fundraiser.  NY Residents: Find your legislators and ask them to support the bills that will ban animal-killing contests in NY   :http://openstates.org/find_your_legislator/. I put why I Protested and posted pictures of the end result of this contest Dead Squirrels. Now I will post of what we did as protesters.

Will I ever protest again you bet as long as I can get there I will always try to help my animal friends.

I Had Never…..

I have never seen a bird like this up close and in real life before this day. I think it is some kind of vulture . Him and his pals were guarding a deer that was run over on the side of the road. He had a lot of buddies with him.

Manhattan Dog meets Cows and Amish all on a walk

Today I decided to load  BabyGirl and Midnight  into the truck and take a ride in my neighborhood and Find a different walking area for us to explore.  What was I thinking not to bring my camera.  I decided on a spot where a small herd of cows with their babies were out enjoying the sunshine. Midnight has seen cows from riding in a vehicle but never up close.  BabyGirl is a experienced country gal so cows were not new to her.  She was all for the new walking area! Oh how I wished I brought my camera when Midnight saw those cows up close. She had a expression  on her alright lol.  The cows were curious about us also and came up close and Midnight was a good girl and didn’t go crazy like she did with the horse the first time she saw it.  I think she was just fascinated with the cows. So I let her watch them for awhile .  When it was time to go she didn’t want to she wanted to stay with the cows.  Of course I had to pry her from her cow spot and head back towards the truck.  On our way back we met 3 nice Amish girls on a walk. We stopped as they asked me about my girls and I told them about my 2 Beauties and BabyGirl and Midnight  were again on their best behavior. I find on these little outing that I have a lot of Amish neighbors . I didn’t know that before I only been here 3 years! On the ride home I saw some horses that were preening each other and just enjoying being with each other. Again I scolded myself why didn’t I bring my camera.  I plan on taking the dogs on another exploration of our neighborhood and I will not forget my camera!

Not a Happy BabyGirl

BabyGirl was Bad and her corner hasn’t been working lately. So I switched it up and made her go in Midnight’s crate. Midnight has been crate trained and she goes there on her own and likes her spot. BabyGirl has never been in one and she did not like it. It seems to be working as she has been a good girl and wants Midnight to keep her crate.
