Sasha Returns !

Sasha is a African Grey Parrot who resided in my son’s Verizon store in Philadelphia. When my son moved to Florida and me back to New York Sasha went to Florida with my son. Sasha Stay in Florida with my son’s friend and roommate in Florida when my son moved back to New York. I missed her a lot but the friend always kept us updated on how she was doing. Five years passed and my son’s friend called him to let him know that she could not care for Sasha anymore. My son Brian took a week vacation time, rented a car and headed to Florida to get Sasha. Before leaving he let me know what was going on and ask if I could care for Sasha. Of Course I will!

It has been a little over a week now and Sasha is doing great! Already copying what I say and has the dog commands perfect to where the dogs listen to her. BabyGirl remembers her from Philadelphia and Sasha remembers BabyGirl.

Midnight however never met Sasha or a talking bird. Midnight was totally confused as to why the bird was telling her to sit and lay down. She was confused but she would sit or lay down it is so funny. (When Midnight cries because she is not getting her way Sasha cries just like her and she will stop.) Poor Midnight so confused. LOL

When I first let her out her cage because African Greys like to be out and about she went for my books, picture frames and curtains to rein her terror on them by tearing them up . I managed to stop her before any real damage happened and put a box out to put her focus elsewhere . It worked! I got pictures of Bird in a box !

Introducing Sasha

Introducing Sasha

I also have been working outside getting all those jobs done before winter hits. I was cleaning out my shed when my neighbor Korie came over to mow my lawn . He had seen I was working on the shed and knew I would not be getting to the lawn because I have to pick and choose due to my limitations. He is a good kid. He is 21 but that is a kid to me. LOL  Now Midnight does not like laying on the grass so I take a chair cushion and put it in the shade for her. Normally when Korie goes by with the lawn mower the dogs will move. Korie was not close enough I guess and the grass flies out the mower and Midnight just laying there . She didn’t even get up afterword. She was not giving up that cushion! In defense of Korie he probably thought Midnight would move like usual. Midnight will not lay in the grass but will lay with grass on her go figure!

My friend in Georgia sent me a picture of a plant she planted but she can’t remember the name of it  so I am posting the picture in hopes someone can tell me what it is.

Well this was relaxing to do but now I must get up and go outdoors because the work won’t get done otherwise!

What is this plant?

I have this  plant near my house. I have no idea what it is. If anyone knows please let me know. It grows very aggressively. It is pretty in the fall when it blooms and when the leaves change.

Close up

The stalks are woody in the winter time. Yes you see a dog it is BabyGirl.

The Sky

This is a Hosta s my sister gave me 2 of them. I couldn’t remember the name so I took this picture to ask her the name again. When I looked at the picture on my computer I noticed how beautiful the sky was day before yesterday.

Blooms

I am almost finished painting and am I glad because my knees and hips are all wore out. The last couple days I kept thinking how did I do this for a living and on big houses. I believe this will be the last time I will be painting any large structure or at least one that you need a ladder for. I just have some touch up to do then on to the porches. I am trying to get this all done before the snow fly’s again. My garden has been a little neglected but I am confident I can tidy it all up after a little rest. My neighbor Korie’s  puppy Mak got free and he always runs to my house. This time I wasn’t home and he managed to explore all threw my tomato garden. They are a little tipped over but no real damage done. This little 5 month old puppy is 45 lbs! During one of my breaks while painting I went threw and checked to see if any picking was in order and sure enough I had cucumbers ready ! I picked 17 of them. The picture doesn’t show 17 because I ate a couple. I also picked 2 onions but I ate one of them, Also 3 tomatoes but I ate them. I made a cucumber, tomato, onion  salad.

My Stargazer Lillys made their appearance

My Rose of Sharon has just started to bloom. The added bonus is my neighbor brought me over a bunch of slips to root of all colors. I can’t wait to get them planted and on their way.

Last year I was not able to get pictures of all the color changes of my Quick Fire Hydrangea. This year I made sure I did. (on a painting break lol)

                                                                                                                                  Spring

                                                                                                                       Mid- Summer

                                                                                                                              NOW

My sister picked this bush for me and I think it is a great pick!

I was suppose to be…

I was suppose to be prepping to paint today. I have gotten 3 sides of my mobile home prepped and today I was to finish the 4th side but I think I ran out of steam. Yesterday I was up and down the ladder so much and have been using muscles I haven’t used in years and I am feeling it. I use to paint houses for a living so you would think piece of cake right? . A little slower but still haven’t lost the skills. I am only 4 ft 11 in tall so I really use those ladders lol. So today I got the tools out and put the ladder up and started without my usual  enthusiasm . So my neighbor Korie came over and asked did I want to go berry picking and I said “sure do”. I put the ladder down, put the dogs in the house and went berry picking. Blackberries and Raspberries um mm. Midnight also loves to share the berries with me. Korie and I are going to transplant some of the berry bushes into our yards in the fall.

It is a bit of a hike to go get the berries so I used some different muscles which are in better shape because I have been walking a lot. When we got back I pick a onion out of my garden. First onions I ever grew and first homegrown onion I ever ate . Store bought will never be the same now lol. I also picked some cucumber to eat. No pictures of them because they were eaten.  I made my lunch and sat out in the sun with my dogs and thought I was going to read my book but fell asleep outside instead. I woke up and Midnight was sound asleep in the chair next to me and BabyGirl was asleep next to my chair. What a great nap! I didn’t get done what I wanted to but my body was telling me it needed a break. I have learned to listen to my body. Midnight and me still have some berries for snack. BabyGirl only likes oranges and pears so she has to wait until the pears ripen and I buy some oranges!

I’m Back !

Finally I have a computer again! A present from my son. That was a little hard all those months with just a Kindle Fire. The other way I also looked at it was I was just glad I had a way online. I did have to stop a lot of things I like to do. That is all over now. I’ll tell ya I can go threw a lot of computers. The last one died because of a electrical fire. The computer and electric wires were the only casulties. Electric repaired and computer replaced I’m all good. I was just thankful I noticed the fire before it really became a big problem.

This past summer Midnight knocked over one of my little yard tables and this is what was attached to it

My son taught me how to make stuffed grape leaves. They are so good.

Image

I have a little mini slow cooker so I also have been making from scratch chicken soup.

My Ouick Fire Hydrangea started out this spring Like this

Image

Summertime it transformed into this

Image

It then proceeded to change color to pink blooms. That was about the time to much stuff was going on and I wasn’t doing much picture taken. I hope to get all the stages starting next spring.

My sister had a Rose bush she didn’t want any more so I brought it home and planted it. It bloomed this year

Image

My Lilly’s did great . I have sense transplanted the to a new flower bed in the back yard. all total 15 Lillies. They had babies. I think it is going to look so awsome. I am letting the wild strawberries take over in those beds for the bunnies as I like to watch them.

Image

The birds have caught on that cats don’t come around my yard so they have made nests in my Junipers.

Image

Baby birds did great because no cats around to eat them during that crucial time they are on the ground learning to fly.

My neighbors cat waits for the moment in his yard. He doesn.t dare come into mine because he knows BabyGirl and Midnight guard their yard. Mr. Whiskers found that out the hard way.

Of course Midnight and BabyGirl are working as a team covering all the bases on look out.

Also Last but not least BabyGirl wearing her Glow in the dark  Beer Paws Bottle opener That I purchased for both dogs threw Wayward Dogs a fellow Blogger. First Blog I ever read and still following. I have not yet been able to get Midnight with hers but I will. Portion of the procedes go to helping the dogs in Kansas City.

Lilacs

2 years ago my Mother surprised me with a little Lilac bush . My Mom died this last September so this bush is special to me

This year we have had a crazy spring and our weather was in 70’s and 80’s which made the bush bud a  lot sooner. This week  our temp  drop and a hard frost was expected. So I went out with my sheet and string to cover it and try to protect the buds.

This is what my poor bushed looked like after applying sheet and rope.

Of course BabyGirl supervised while I did All the work!

My Buds are not looking to healthy as we went down into the teens up here on the hill. 60’s today but poor bush had terrible winds hitting it. I am keeping my eye on it and hoping maybe a few buds will survive.   Snow expected this week  oh my our weather is just crazy!

Christmas Catus

So what I learned this year is to leave them out all year except Winter.

This is a pic of one of my Christmas Catus that stayed in all year.

This is a pic of the Christmas Catus that was only in for the Winter.

Guess they will stay outside!

Herbs

My parsely has been threw a few frost now and still doing well

Rosemary I brought in before first frost. this will be it’s 2ed winter in. I have dried and put in spice jars. I harvested alot this summer.

Basil I kept in all year as the June bugs really went crazy on it last year. I have dried some and mostly use fresh.

A small parsely plant I brought in for winter.

My oregano plant I forgot to bring in last year and didn’t make it . Next year I will replant oregano and I also want to add chives.I had them in philly and really enjoyed them. I also planted chili peppers and pumkins. I harvested some Chili peppers and have used them . I did not get pics of the plants before frost and to bad as they were so pretty. My pumkins didn’t ripen all the way. I figured it was because we had such a late spring.
