All Moved!

I know it has been quite some time that I have wrote anything. I had been so busy as my son and I have been house hunting for a duplex house. We both came to the decision that we would be less stressed and happier being neighbors. My son works a lot and I never got to see him much. I understood his not coming to visit often as I knew how much he works. He also stressed about me being so isolated and what would happen if I had a issue like when I had pancreatitis a about the middle of January . I had had it for a while and was doing all my chores and out shoveling snow. It got so bad I had to call him to come take me to the hosiptal. Great timing on my part as he had just gotten out of work. They wanted to keep me. I was having none of that. So they said if I could keep the Ginger Ale down they gave me with no pain I could go home with the diet restriction Jello and  clear liquid diet. I went home and next day Brian showed up with all kinds of broth and Jello and  pedialyte and juices.  Had some testing done and my gallbladder not functioning . Have to have it out. I put it off for after the move. Was suppose to do in February but I had to much on my plate. I will be making a appointment soon as I am almost caught up on everything. Finally!

Middy ditched me to spend the night with my son Brian as it was his night off. He works 3rd shift so him and Middy were on his schedule and was outside as the sun was rising. He took this picture. 28685363_10215992004492199_121352057974424343_n (1)

I had a great view at the other place and I am just as happy with this view. My yard will need a lot of work but to spend some time outside and not freezing will be welcome.

I dug up and prepared all my bushes ,plants and bulbs for the move. Had some great weather in December and was perfect to do that job. My lilac bush was the last plant my Mom gave me and I didn’t want to leave it. I even brought my wild strawberry plants.

The dogs have all adjusted. Athena manage to escape from Brian and Brian was running all over trying to catch her. I had Samantha on her leash so I couldn’t help. I also knew after Athena got her run in she would come back. When she did Brian was still down the road looking for her. Escape artist that she is she got out that week on me too. At the old house. I wasn’t about to run all over to get her so I got in my car rolled down my window went out in the road and called out “Athena want to go for car ride?” She came a running and I open passenger door and she hopped in. Took her for a little ride and went home. Beats running around like a crazy person ! 28277197_10215890988486862_7059452738737261756_n

Raw bone yum,yum

Now my oldest elderbelle BabyGirl adjusted quick. She is a veteran at the moving. She goes up and down the stairs with ease and I was a little worried about that. We were on a single level home at the old place.  She sure has had a lot of spunk sense moving here. Even though we lived  9 years at the old place she still knew what was up and helped me get the others adjusted and into a routine. Middy I think had it the hardest as the old place was the only home she knew sense she came to live with me.. It was all very confusing to her. She has adjusted well and I think she likes her new surroundings.

Middy needed a little bit more time adjusting. It didn’t help that she had been dealing with her winter allergies and they were bad this year. She is on the mend.

I made a breakthrough with Samantha here at the new house. Sense she came to live with me I could not get her in bath tub for a bath. I had to give her a bath outside with a hose.  Winter I had to wipe her down. I always kept trying and for some reason this move made her trust me more. She got into the bathtub here and had her first inside bath. She followed all my directions and felt so comfortable she laid down in the tub. No more hose baths for her!

Sasha didn’t miss a beat with the move. She like BabyGirl is a vetern at moving. I believe she really likes it here and added bonus is she see’s Brian more. She has a special bond with Brian. She is singing and dancing more.

Sasha going to make a mess for me with paper towel roll. I pack all her toys in a little box put in her play area and told her if she wanted her toys she would have to unpack herself. She did . She shredded that box and got all her toys out lol.

We had a lot to adjust to but we are making our way and helping each other. I really don’t want to move again because it was hard!

Outside Birds

I feed my outside birds all year round. They have gotten so use to me or they know I am bringing goodies they don’t even fly away. I always have my dogs out when I am outside . The birds don’t fly away them ether. My dogs live with Sasha the bird so the outside birds figured out they don’t bother them and they keep cats out the yard.

We have had a mild winter that is until 2 weeks ago. We had a wind storm and there were so many power outages and I was one of those households that lost power. I had to send Sasha the bird away to my son’s house because she is a African Grey and the cold would kill her. I missed her and her chattiness so much. I had no power water or heat for four days. It was a good thing I had four dogs to snuggle with.Well I got my power ,water and heat back on and Sasha came back home and then we get a March snow storm. Almost 2 feet of snow , more wind and temps 0 degrees with wind chill.I had to make sure my outside birds had plenty to eat because it was a hard storm to live though. The birds see me walking though the snow with all the goodies and stay where they are because they are not missing out. So I fill the feeders, and the suet cage and throw unsalted peanuts in shells on the ground for the blue Jays. (I love watching them grab and go) and walk away. Time for taking some pictures. Here are some of the pictures I took of my outside birds during our 3 day snowstorm.

Saying Goodbye and Bonding

On Oct 20th I celebrated my Birthday. On Oct 21 I was grieving for my niece Inez as she had passed away in her sleep in the early morning. She was a young woman of 32 who was so full of life ,fun and adventure. Inez was sleeping over her mothers house, my sister Roberta and Roberta went to wake her up and she wouldn’t wake up. I can’t even imagine what my sister felt when she realized that her daughter had passed. The saying you are never promised tomorrow really hit home this month.

Sasha has adapted very well into her new home. As much as she is bonded with my son she has decided to give me that special bond. She sat on my shoulder for the first time this week.

She throws me kisses all day. She has me busting out laughing so much from what she says and then laughs with me. She loves to laugh. She also has a sense of humor. All my smoke detectors were beeping for the battery’s to be changed. While I thought it was only one it was all of them. So Sasha mastered this sound and after I changed the batteries in the smoke detectors she tried to fool me into thinking the batteries were no good by making the beeping sound. Then  would laugh at me. When I say I am going to lay down for a little nap and she doesn’t want me to she makes the smoke detector alarm sound. It is amazing how accurate these birds can copy sound.

When Sasha first moved here she like this box I had so I took a picture of Bird in a Box.

Well it has not been that long and this is the box today. Sasha is a beast and needs a new box!

If it were not for my animal companions I would be one sad girl because they keep me on my toes and keep me laughing .

My Rose of Sharon bush must be happy because it is losing it’s leaves and still blooming!

This is a over head shot.

Well even though all is not well I manage to enjoy the little things because nobody is promised tomorrow.

Wordless Wednesday

July 4th

We had quite a busy July 4th. We went into the city for my sisters annual 4th BBQ. Always a good get together. I don’t stay for the fireworks because BabyGirl gets to frighten by them so we head on out back to the country where we got to see a amazing Lighten Bug show in or back yard. BabyGirl and Midnight had such fun chasing them .

I got to see my brother whom I haven’t seen in 15 years. Midnight stuck to him like glue. He said she was going home with him and maybe would bring her back next year lol . No I don’t think so!

Of course BabyGirl and Midnight wore their 4th of July decoration.

Our weekend was so busy and when everything was over BabyGirl and Midnight were exhusted and they spent the whole day Sunday like this

They had a fun , exciting, safe July 4th!

Donkeys!

I had a early morning appointment this morning and when ever I have  to go to appointments it is always in another town. So I take advantage of this and use the old back country roads and some seasonal roads. I am always on the look out for new places to take BabyGirl and Midnight exploring.

Today was no exception. I didn’t find that place to go exploring but I did find these guys and they were so friendly and sweet.

Busy May

This May has been so busy that I have not had a lot of time to write. I managed to take a few pictures. I have been working on the many disasters that seem to keep happening and now starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel. BabyGirl and Midnight are so happy to be able to go outside after the terrible winter we had.

BabyGirl so happy to be outside.

I can’t  believe it but we still are under average temperatures. Today we were in the 50’s! My yard used to be farm land and does my lawn grow! Every 3 days it needs a trim! It will slow a bit when warmer weather gets here.

On May 9 BabyGirl turned 9 years old ! So she got her cake and ate it too! Of course Midnight had to have some cake also.

We have been out for more walks.

Then I had to rest

Of course Midnight was just telling me in her body language to please stop taking pictures of her and get back to walking!

I was  also puppy sitter for my neighbor Korie. His little puppy Mak

A Man and his dog

Old meets young ( BabyGirl never met a puppy before )

Even though I have a lot of real bad stuff happen this winter and I am still fixing all the problems . I am so happy that I have my best friends to put a smile on my face and help me feel like everything is going to be OK.

My First Protest

Most  protests that go on are usually in a big city USA and sense I live in what is call way out there in the country I never get to participate in the protests that go on about my animal friends domestic or wild . Anyone that has ever took a peek into this blog knows I love my fur friends. I always take to the internet to fight the many battles for animals. Not today, today I participated in a protest in Holly , NY that is a couple counties over from me. The Protest against what is called the Squirrel Slam. The Holly Fire Dept has a contest every year to raise funds by the killing of innocent squirrels. Friends of Animals.org offered the Holly Fire Dept  money not to go on with the contest and it was more money than they would have made on the contest and they turned it down That in it self is bad enough but to add to it the contest let 12 years old and up participate in this contest/fundraiser of killing of small animals. I see this as a problem especially with the children being taught it is ok to kill a sentient being. It desensitizes the children .   Then they grow up and society has to deal with them.  Then they reward them with a prize for killing . No good can come out of this Protest3 or thisprotest 12 Or this protest 13Those squirrels are the reason I chose to protest as they have every right to live as we  do. I enjoy wildlife and I don’t want it to be killed off because of a contest/fundraiser.  NY Residents: Find your legislators and ask them to support the bills that will ban animal-killing contests in NY   :http://openstates.org/find_your_legislator/. I put why I Protested and posted pictures of the end result of this contest Dead Squirrels. Now I will post of what we did as protesters.

Please take the time to let your Legislators know that animal killing contests should be no more.

Will I ever protest again you bet as long as I can get there I will always try to help my animal friends.

It’s Been Awhile…

It’s been awhile since I have posted anything and I am sorry for this as I do enjoy blogging. We have been having a pretty tough winter here and have been hiding out in the house. Sense the Temp has been so cold here my pups have been house bound. When I did take them outside we didn’t stay out very long as frostbite was a very real threat. Puppy paws and ears  are too important to take the chance. Yesterday we had yet another snow storm and I had to go out in it. Unavoidable.         I rode with my Neighbor who has the all wheel drive because my car is two-wheel drive and it is staying in the driveway.     I will wait until the snow melts to take it out! Right now I am not in shape to be digging out a car. Today we went out for a little while and it is still so cold and the freezing wind did not help at all. But we took a little walk and managed to trek to the mailbox. We all got some needed excersize.

I can’t wait for spring and will be so glad to have something to blog about !
