Not A City Girl Any More !

My small space in a big world

What is this plant?

I have this  plant near my house. I have no idea what it is. If anyone knows please let me know. It grows very aggressively. It is pretty in the fall when it blooms and when the leaves change.

Close up

The stalks are woody in the winter time. Yes you see a dog it is BabyGirl.

  1. I have no idea what it is but it is pretty!

  2. Japanese Knotweed – a hugely invasive species from Asia. Almost impossible to eradicate, it is here to stay. The shoots in spring are edible – somewhat like asparagus. A tincture made from the roots is said to be a treatment for Lyme disease.
It is pretty, I agree. The cinnamon color in November adds to the otherwise drab gray landscape.

    • Thank you Eliza for letting me know. I have lived here over 5 years and never knew what it was. My dogs do enjoy exploring in there in the winter time. yes it is pretty in November. I might have pictures here in my Blog from past Novembers. I hope to be not so busy at that time to take new pictures. It has been quite a busy summer for me and my Blog has suffered for it.
